About the Artist
My name is James Jarrel and I am a 3rd Generation Luthier; I have over 40 years experience and have built hundreds of stringed instruments. After serving in the United States Marine Corps I was lucky to get a job as a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service. I kept building guitars and selling them but that gig was a lot like being a starving artist, so thank god for my day job.
I have several connections in the music world and that helped me sell quite a few instruments to players in Nashville. My Guitars were starting to show up all over the world and everyone who played them gave them great reviews. Notable players like Brad Delp from the band “Boston” said it was one of the best guitars he had ever played. Over the course of many years my guitars have shown up in numerous places such as Saturday Night Live all the way to Grammys
After retiring from the Postal Service I was able to finally pursue a life long dream of finishing up my Bachelors degree in engineering. Due to the demands of the job while working as an engineer at Honeywell Aerospace I had to put my guitar building business on hold
After retiring from engineering I discovered that my real passion was working with my wife (who is also an exceptional artist) building beautiful heirloom keepsake boxes. We already had a head start on this because for years we have included an heirloom quality pick box with every custom guitar we built using the same materials used on their guitar. At first we just had fun creating beautiful things out of wood and various materials but it has evolved into so much more. I still build guitars for existing customers but this new chapter in my life is my passion and I couldn't wait to see what would come next
After Exposure we received from the Arizona State Fair all of the sudden our work was in demand. I was contacted by Warner Bros. and commissioned to make props for their television show “Roswell New Mexico” and a few other projects in developement. You just never know what the future holds
